The leadership of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS) has held a follow-up meeting with the management of the Borno State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (BOSCHMA) to seek further clarification on the proposed Tertiary Institutions Contributory Health Scheme.

The meeting, led by Muhammad Tijjani Awaji, Secretary General of NUBOSS, followed an earlier engagement with the Borno State Commissioner of Education on the proposed program for students in tertiary institutions across the state.

Alhaji Umaru Yerwama, Director of Administration and General Services at BOSCHMA, welcomed the NUBOSS delegation and commended the students for seeking a clearer understanding of the proposed scheme.

In that engagement, Dr. Saleh Abba Kaza, Executive Secretary of BOSCHMA, expressed the agency’s readiness to engage with student leaders and provide the information and clarification needed to help them understand the program.

Awaji said the purpose of the visit was to obtain more details about how the proposed scheme would operate before students make any decisions or take further steps.

Responding to the concerns, Saleh explained the proposed structure of the scheme and how it is expected to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for students.

The ES assured the delegation that BOSCHMA was committed to developing a program that responds to the healthcare needs of students while ensuring efficient access to quality services.

Representatives of NUBOSS from the College of Agriculture, Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies (MOGCOLIS), and the College of Health Technology raised questions about the design and implementation of the proposed scheme.

The questions focused on how the scheme was developed, its expected benefits, and how students would access healthcare services under the proposed arrangement.

The meeting provided an opportunity for BOSCHMA management and NUBOSS leadership to discuss the concerns raised by students and build a clearer understanding of the proposed Tertiary Institutions Contributory Health Scheme.

The engagement also underscored the commitment of both organizations to ensuring that the proposed program is well understood and responsive to the healthcare needs of tertiary students across Borno State.

Beyond that, Dr Saleh has reassured to meet up with Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum's mandate of ensuring affordable  healthcare to the citizens of Borno.
