As part of its continued efforts to enhance healthcare delivery in Borno State, the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA) successfully conducted a two-day training workshop on the use of the referral portal for healthcare facilities in the Northern and Central zones.
Held on the 24th and 25th of January 2025 at the State Specialist Hospital Conference Hall, Maiduguri, the training was aimed at strengthening the state’s referral system by promoting efficiency, accountability, and continuity of care across Primary and Secondary Healthcare Facilities.
The event was flagged off by the Executive Secretary of BOSCHMA, Dr. Saleh Abba Kaza, who delivered the opening remarks. He emphasized the critical role of a coordinated referral system in improving patient outcomes and urged participants to embrace the digital platform as a tool for transforming healthcare delivery in the state.
A technical presentation was delivered by Dr. Inna Alimi, Director of Standards and Quality Assurance (SQA), who highlighted the key functions of the portal, such as its ability to enhance inter-facility communication, track referrals in real-time, and promote seamless transitions of care.
The hands-on demonstration was led by Mustapha Mohammed, BOSCHMA’s Head of ICT, who walked participants through the process of logging referrals, updating patient details, generating referral codes, and accessing reports. He also addressed security measures and practical use-cases of the portal in real-time operations.
The training featured an interactive segment where participants provided feedback, raised queries, and shared suggestions for improving the platform’s usability and impact.
In closing, BOSCHMA reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging technology to improve service delivery, ensure faster response to patient needs, and reduce bottlenecks in the state’s healthcare system.
This training marks a significant step toward digital transformation in Borno State’s healthcare sector and reflects BOSCHMA’s leadership in implementing effective health financing and service coordination mechanisms.
