Dr. Saleh Abba Kaza, Executive Secretary of the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, BOSCHMA, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery through a fully functioning Electronic Health Record, EHR, system across secondary health facilities in the state.

Dr. Saleh made this known during the agency’s quarterly briefing meeting with Medical Directors, Principal Medical Officers, BOSCHMA clinic staff and representatives of the Borno State Drugs Management Agency, BODMA.

Babagana Bukar, Deputy Director of Administration and General Services, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of teamwork, accountability and dedication in ensuring effective healthcare service delivery to beneficiaries.

Dr. Saleh stated that BOSCHMA has now successfully deployed a fully operational Electronic Health Record system aimed at improving data management, transparency, patient documentation and efficient healthcare coordination across participating facilities.

The ES also disclosed that the agency has introduced plans to begin rewarding the best performing health facilities based on quality of service delivery, commitment to beneficiaries and proper utilization of the EHR platform.

He further revealed that BOSCHMA has procured drugs worth ₦180 million through the Borno State Drugs Management Agency as part of measures to address the persistent issue of drug shortages in healthcare facilities.

Mustapha Mohammed, Head of ICT, presented the EHR performance dashboard covering services rendered from January 2, 2026 to date.

Mustapha disclosed that a total of 2,731 patient encounters and 2,486 consultations were successfully captured through the EHR platform.

He added that healthcare services worth ₦7,090,877 were rendered, while medications valued at ₦16,768,020 were dispensed across participating facilities.

The head of ICT also conducted another practical demonstration of the EHR process to further strengthen the capacity of BOSCHMA clinic staff on proper utilization of the digital system.

Dr. Inna Alimi, Director of Standard Quality Assurance, presented updates on formal sector funding and E-wallet services across healthcare facilities.

She disclosed that capitation payments for the first and second quarters were successfully released to participating facilities under the formal sector programme.

Dr. Inna also stated that State Specialist Hospital received the highest capitation payment of ₦5,116,200 for 3,649 enrolled beneficiaries.

She added that Mamman Shuwa Memorial Hospital received ₦1,375,200 for 997 beneficiaries, while Umaru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital received ₦1,168,800 for 853 beneficiaries.

She further revealed that General Hospital Biu received ₦1,577,200 covering 876 enrolled beneficiaries.

The ES encouraged all facilities to ensure accurate data capture, improved patient care and effective utilization of the Electronic Health Record platform to enhance service delivery to BOSCHMA beneficiaries.

The meeting also featured an interactive session where participants raised operational concerns and received clarifications on issues affecting healthcare service delivery across facilities.
