BOSCHMA Strengthens Commitment to UHC with Formal Sector Programme Inaugural Board Meeting The Board of the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA) has held its inaugural meeting under the leadership of its Chairperson, Hajiya Mairo Bunu Lawan, as part of preparations to meet the 90-day waiting period required for access to healthcare services at various facilities under the Formal Sector Health Insurance Scheme. Welcoming members to the meeting, Hajiya Mairo Bunu congratulated them on their appointments and urged collective commitment toward ensuring a successful rollout of the programme. She commended His Excellency, Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, mni, FNSE, GCON, for his approval of the scheme and for the government’s 6.5% contribution, in addition to the 3.5% employee contribution. In his presentation, Dr. Saleh Abba Kaza, Executive Secretary of BOSCHMA, outlined the 90-day implementation framework for the formal sector scheme. He highlighted its objectives and benefits, stressing its importance in strengthening healthcare financing and expanding access to quality services for civil servants and their families. With the commencement of the formal sector programme, Borno State joins other states in Nigeria already implementing health insurance for their workforce. The inaugural board meeting marks a significant milestone in BOSCHMA’s drive to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the state.
