BOSCHMA Board Members’ Two-Day Study Tour to KTSCHMA.
The Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA) Board Members embarked on a two-day study tour to the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA) to gain practical insights and strengthen their knowledge of health insurance operations and implementation strategies.
During the visit, the BOSCHMA delegation, led by the Chairperson, Hajiya Mairo Bunu Lawan, and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Saleh Abba Kaza, was received by the Director General of KTSCHMA. The team visited the General Hospital Katsina, where the Medical Director, Dr. Mohammed Abdurahman, took them through the hospital’s service delivery system, claims management process, and KTSCHMA’s integration into hospital operations. The visit provided the team with a clear understanding of how contributory health services function effectively at the facility level.
The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Honourable Musa Adamu Funtua, where discussions centered on health financing reforms, sustainability, and strategies for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The BOSCHMA delegation commended KTSCHMA for its efficiency, coordination, and compliance with healthcare service standards. They expressed gratitude for the hospitality and valuable knowledge shared and pledged to replicate the best practices in Borno State to strengthen BOSCHMA’s operations.
The visit ended with a closing session led by the Director General of KTSCHMA, who appreciated the BOSCHMA team’s commitment to learning and collaboration and wished them a safe journey back to Maiduguri.
Overall, the study tour enhanced BOSCHMA’s capacity to improve healthcare financing, service delivery, and implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) and formal sector programme in Borno State.
